Addie Morrison has provided over a decade of leadership to The Lake County Community Foundation where she served as a founding board member through 2012. The Morrison Family was also among the first to establish a donor-advised fund at the Foundation, opening the door to many others who preserve their giving legacy in the county.

Waukegan, IL—September 25, 2014 – The Lake County Community Foundation is pleased to announce it will be honoring founding board member Adeline “Addie” Morrison during opening night of The Lake Forest Shop’s (265 E. Market Square in Lake Forest) annual “Shop Your Cause” charity event. This year the event will be Wednesday, October 8th through Saturday, October 11th, with honorees representing nine Lake County nonprofits that will be celebrated at an opening night cocktail party and mini fashion show.

Addie Morrison has provided over a decade of leadership to The Lake County Community Foundation where she served as a founding board member through 2012. The Morrison Family was also among the first to establish a donor-advised fund at the Foundation, opening the door to many others who preserve their giving legacy in the county.

“It was Addie, along with my dad and a small group of extremely dedicated community leaders who really did the work of bringing their idea of a community foundation to fruition,” said Anne Reusché, Lake County Community Foundation board member and daughter of founding board member Robert Reusché. “Their vision and willingness to give so deeply of their talent, energy and resources are what has made the Foundation the success it is today.”

“Addie is our gem,” said A. Stewart Kerr, Board Chair of the Foundation. “She has been a guiding light and continues to give her time and care to all of the Foundation’s endeavors. It really is our privilege to be able to honor her this way.”

Throughout forty years of dedicated service to some of Lake County’s most active and prestigious foundations, including the Morrison Family Foundation which she started, Addie has been one of The Lake County Community Foundation’s greatest champions, helping it to grow from a kitchen table dream to a vital institution holding 10 million dollars in assets which annually funds safety net-building community projects in Lake County.

In addition to her work with the Foundation, Addie is a sponsor of her 2nd “I Have a Dream” class in North Chicago and she serves on the board of Dream Associates, Inc. She is a current member of the Mission Committee of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest where she previously served as its moderator while being an active Elder on the Session. Addie was a trustee of McCormick Theological Seminary and a member of the District 67 School Board in Lake Forest.
